Young featherweight prospects Josh Grispi (14-1 MMA, 4-0 WEC) and Erik Koch (10-1 MMA, 2-1 WEC) are on tap for WEC 52.
Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup and are soon expected to make things official.
WEC 52 takes place Nov. 11 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Grispi vs. Koch is expected for the evening’s main card, which airs live on Versus.
Grispi has picked up right where he left off in the featherweight division after a year-long layoff. He returned in June at WEC 49 and notched his eighth consecutive first-round stoppage victory when he put L.C. Davis to sleep with a guillotine choke.
The 21-year-old was benched following a key victory over former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver. Grispi injured his ankle a few days prior to the fight and chose to compete anyway.
