Gray Maynard dropping to featherweight
Gray Maynard is trying to break out of a four-fight UFC losing streak and get his first win in the cage since 2012. Will a drop to 145 will be the solution?

Looks like we’ll be seeing the former UFC lightweight title challenger Gray Maynard dropping down to the 145 pound division, where Jose Also is the current champ.
A fighter in Maynard’s position faces a crossroads, with the option to hang up his gloves and move on from the sport, or do anything necessary to get back on track. It appears Maynard will do the latter; he stated on Twitter that he plans to get back in the octagon sooner than later, but this time it will be in a new weight class:

At one time, Maynard (11-5-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) was considered one of the best lightweights in the world. He fought ex-champ Frankie Edgar to a rare title-fight draw at UFC 125 in January 2011 and followed up by battering Edgar in the rematch at UFC 136 before being stopped by strikes in the fourth round.
The Bully has experienced a free fall ever since that second fight with Edgar. He rebounded from the title fight with a split-decision win over Clay Guida in one of the most dreadful UFC main events in recent memory. It’s his only victory in more than five years.
