Gracie shrugs off Shamrock PED test failure
Royce Gracie: “”I don’t think too much about it. It doesn’t make any difference. It made no difference. I don’t follow Shamrock, so I didn’t even know he was caught before.”
When Ken Shamrock lost to Royce Gracie via TKO at Bellator 149, he called loudly for the win to be overturned. Shamrock concedes that a knee to the face dropped him to the ground, but alleges that there was a disqualifying knee to the groin that preceded it.
When Shamrock failed a post fight test for Performance Enhancing Drugs, he denied it based in having lost weight during fight training, and again called for the decision to be overturned.

Gracie had a more subdued reaction to the test failure. In fact, he didn’t seem to care. Both he and Shamrock have failed PED tests in the past.
“I don’t think too much about it,” said Gracie to Guilherme Cruz forMMA Fighting. “It doesn’t make any difference. It made no difference.”

“Shamrock was always famous for complaining and making excuses. He was kneed in the stomach, it wasn’t a low blow. I told him after the fight, ‘if you want to complain, complain to the referee’. But when I saw the replay, it wasn’t a low blow. The second knee hit his face and he kind of went out. He was lost, and woke up when he hit the ground.”
Gracie further said he is open to fighting more, and that promoters should call him.
“I only sign one fight at a time,” said Gracie. “I know that ratings were great, everybody watched the fight. It was the highest ratings for Bellator, which is good. If they call me again, I’d do it. If they don’t call me, there’s nothing I can do about it. Some people ask me why I haven’t fought before, and that’s because nobody called me before. I came back now, and it did great numbers.
“I never called anybody out. The way I see, when you’re in there, you’re being challenged. People always wanted to fight me. My father didn’t make us fighters, he made us teachers. We fight to prove that our art, Gracie jiu-jitsu, is the best.”
Shamrock is now on a three fight losing streak. He has won just four fights in 16 years, against 12 losses. Gracie improved 2-0-1 vs. Shamrock, and 15-2-3.
