Currently the WEC’s featherweight champion, Aldo has a tight grip on the division and few give challengers a chance to knock him off the top of the mountain. This perception puts Gamburyan in a place he is very comfortable with… being an underdog.
I’m always the little guy and I’m always the underdog, Gamburyan told MMAWeekly.com. I’ve been enjoying it lately, being a big underdog. So do my fans.
I don’t care. I can be a 10-to-1 underdog. Look what happened against Mike Brown.”
A record like Aldo’s has lead to comparisons with his Black House teammate, Anderson Silva. When asked what he thought about the comparison, Gamburyan weighed in with an opinion of his own.
If they’re comparing him to Anderson Silva, they should compare me with Fedor … If he’s Anderson Silva, most definitely, I’m Fedor.
I don’t see any trouble. I know what he’s going to do. He’s going to throw a lot of knees, kicks, leg kicks, high kicks, low kicks. I know exactly his game plan.
I got one plan only, just get that belt. That’s it.”
