These things happen in mixed martial arts, but these things really happen in Japan. In her last fight, nine-time world champion in Jiu-Jitsu Gabi Garcia fought Yumiko Hotta, who had retired following a loss, in 2000. Hotta came back once to be crush by Amanda Lucas in 2012, and then, at age 50, was brought back vs. Garcia. It was a dangerous farce.

Earlier this month Garcia competed in a Shootboxing contest in Japan vs. 45-year-old Megumi Yabushita, whose kickboxing record is 1-10-1; Yabushita hasn’t won in MMA since 2010. Garcia illegally soccer kicked her in the face and the bout was ruled a No contest.

On Saturday in the latest RIZIN show, Garcia fought Russian boxer and arm wrestler Oksana Gagloeva, who had never done MMA before. The referee ruled that Garcia gouged Gagloeva’s eye, again leading to a No Contest.

“It was not my finger, said Garcia to Guilherme Cruz for MMA Fighting, arguing perhaps that some other massively muscled woman momentarily leaped in the ring and took her place. “I defended with an open hand, but closed it for the punch. She has both eyes hurt. The doctors authorized her to come back but she didn’t want to. Coward.”

“You could see in her eyes that the show ‘ate’ her. She could have came back, but it was an easy way to run.

Garcia hopes to fight on the RIZIN card in October but has a qualifier.

“Not with her, said Garcia “She’s a coward. She ran. Scared.”

It is not clear who Garcia will appeal the No Contest to, as mixed martial arts remains unregulated in Japan.
