Frye: Ronda got lazy, just like I did

The irrepressible Don Frye appeared recently on Submission Radio to talk about, well, anything he damn well wants to, of course.

He revealed that the “new PRIDE” organization RIZIN had approached him to fight, but he was not impressed, and does not believe they can get as big as PRIDE.

No, no,” he said. “They don’t have the money or the respect. I talked to them a few months before the New Year’s Eve show, they don’t have any respect towards the fighters so they don’t have a chance.

“They didn’t have the money to offer me a Fedor level fighter. hey wanted me to fight TK (TsuyoshiKohsaka).

They were so far away on the money situation, partner. It was disrespectful. The whole conversation was disrespectful.

Apparently they would have to make things right before even broaching the subject of a Fedor fight.

They would have to clean the chalkboard,” he said. “They’re in debt to me for a couple of things, so they would have to come and clean the board with that first, you know, and then we could start discussions.

Frye alse expressed disregard for former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, and former heavyweight champion Holly Holm.

He’s done,” said Frye. “You know what’s wrong with his back? He has no back bone. None. So if he ever fights again I would be completely surprised, you know I mean? They had to lay odds in Vegas, who will be the first to fight again, him or that chick? Who’s that chick? Ronda Rousey. Neither one of them are ever gonna fight again.

I thought Holly was amazing, and not just cause she’s got a gorgeous body. God dang, you see the legs on that girl? Like holy shmoly. Yeah, she is just a train stopper, she’s a traffic stopper, she’s just amazing. You know, they did it exactly like it was supposed to be done.

“I mean Ronda was a one-trick pony and she was stupid. She’s over-emotional and everybody’s kissing her ass and telling her how wonderful she is. And you see it happen – I’ve said this a hundred times – everybody gets cocky and they get lazy. It happened to me, happened to Coleman, happened to Kerr, happened to Fedor – or Fedor just got tired of getting beat up and having the mob take his money. I don’t know – but everybody, you get cocky and you don’t train as hard, man, and then it catches up to you and because of that one person just waiting.

“Holly’s got all my respect in the world from me, but everybody else, they gotta earn it. (WMMA) gotta catch up, you know? Holly came in as a nineteen-time world champion in boxing. You know, she’s a real athlete. Most of these chicks aren’t real athletes. They’ve never done anything athletic and they’re not even fighters, they’re just filling spots. And geez, the game’s gotta improve for the women. It’s got to.

Frye’s harshest words were reserved for Rousey, who returned to the USA with her battered face covered with a pillow against the cameras.

“She got her ass kicked and she couldn’t handle it,” he said. “Criminy. She’s listening to some bozo in her corner – whatever that trainer who’s out there teaching Tae Bo, and they’re probably as effective as his boxing skills are. Holy shit, she could talk a bunch of smack and couldn’t back it up, man. Holly came through there to whoop her ass and Holly did.

Frye does not believe Rousey will ever return, either.

Cause she got her ass kicked so bad and embarrassed so bad when she didn’t think it was possible,” said. “And all that bulls— ‘I could beat a man on any given day.’

“And I’ll tell you what, I’ve had my ass kicked, I’ve known lots of other guys who’ve had their ass kicked, world champions or not, and I’ve never seen anyone hug a pillow and go through an airport. They always walked with a black eye and broken nose, you know, right in and proud of it.

If Ronda and Cain never fight again, Frye is right. If they do, he’s wrong.
