Bellator fighter posts pic of broken leg

Former UFC champion Benson Henderson made a high-profile switch to Bellator MMA, but came up short in his debut, losing a five-round title fight vs. welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov.
For his second Bellator fight, Henderson decided to drop back down to lightweight, vs. former featherweight champion Patricio Freire. That took place Friday night, August 26, 2016 at Bellator 160 in Anaheim, Calif, with Henderson getting the win when Freire was unable to continue, and waved off the fight, at 2:26 of the second round.
The cause was a broken fibula, from an aggressively checked low kick by Henderson. ‘Pitbull’ explained what happened, via Instagram.
“Unfortunelly I injured my leg in the first round,” he wrote. “I was still able to fight for half of the second but I felt the bone move. I was doing really well, confident and winning the fight.
“I’ll be back soon.”
It was not the win Henderson had hoped for, but it was a win.
Henderson is scheduled to fight Bellator MMA lightweight champion Michael Chandler on Nov. 19 in San Jose.
