Former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber fought in the main event of UFC Fight Night 66 in Pasay, Philippines. Edgar was better, winning every round, on every judge’s score card.

The first two round established a pattern of both fighters darting in and landing, but Edgar was able to land more, throwing combinations rather than single shot, and Edgar was able to defend more successfully. Frankie was far from unscathed however, and as his legion of fans have become used to, was bleeding by the second round.

Edgar’s edge increased in the 3rd, as he forced Faber to miss more, increased the frequency of his combinations landing, and he got a takedown. Faber was far from completely out of the fight however, with a solid guillotine attempt at one point.

Faber came out aggressively in the final round, and was always in the fight, but “The California Kid” was hit cleanly a number times, was taken down, and had his back taken.

50-45 Edgar.

Edgar is now on a four-fight winning streak. He has likely earned a shot at the winner of Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Edgar’s last loss was a unanimous decision to Aldo at UFC 156 in February 2013.
