UFC 100 Mir interview: Lesnar’s size is a hindrance
Brock Lesnar has wowed a lot of folks with his quick rise to the top of the MMA heavyweight mountain. Don’t include Frank Mir in that group. He views Lesnar a big guy with little skill and potential cardio issues:
“Honestly, I think big guys are easier to fight. They don’t move as fast, they get tired quickly and they’re not as technical,” Mir told Cagewriter.
Mir is prepping for the UFC heavyweight title fight at UFC 101 with a unique approach. Instead of packing on extra pounds of muscle to contend with the 280-pound Lesnar, Mir is going to try and force the big guy to match up with his strengths. Mir wants to push the pace and make Lesnar catch him. Mir has got some big guys in his training camp at Striking Unlimited in Las Vegas, who are similar in style to Lesnar, but he’s also chosen to spar often with UFC light heavyweight Forrest Griffin. Griffin, who walks around at 235 pounds, is pushing Mir to the brink:
