Thiago Alves said after his UFC 124 victory over John Howard that he has never been prepared so well for a fight. Fighters Only asked Andre Benkei – formerly Pitbull’s conditioning coach and the man previously responsible for getting him on-weight – whether such statements upset him and what his opinion of the words is.
I think each athlete must feel good with what they can have. I feel happy to know he is satisfied with what he has now and wish him good luck. I’ve been told that now there are three professionals and a liposuction guy trying to do what I did before. Very good for him.”
Training with me he was elected fighter of the year, disputed a title, got several knockout of the night and best fight of night and made a good money with it.
He knocked out great names as Tony de Souza, Matt Hughes and Karo Parysian besides a TKO over Chris Lytle. He also made 171lbs to face Georges Saint Pierre – impressing even the champion, who after that bout stated he had to put 10 pounds on for his future as a champion.
Benkei says he is glad that Pitbull is retaking the way as athlete and hopefully the new team will manage to exceed my work and make him a champion.
Alves’ agent Malki Kawa said:
I spoke to Thiago this morning. Thiago didn’t have any comment other than to say “It is sad to see a friend defame me, my achievements, and my training partners because of a relationship that didn’t work out between me and my strength and conditioning coach.
