Five reasons why the UFC won’t sign Nick Diaz

1) Money
You’d be a fool to suggest that the UFC can’t afford Nick Diaz but would they get value for money for what he would cost?
Diaz constantly talks about money and not being paid enough. It was the focus of his pre fight interview with Diego Sanchez back in 2005 and he’s continued along this route ever since.
2) Drugs
Diaz’s long standing endorsement of Marijuana also represents a serious problem in his long term employability.
The UFC’s quest for global dominance and recognition is damaged every time that one of their athletes fails a drugs test.
3) Behaviour
If you type Strikeforce into Google you’ll find that one of the most prominent auto complete options is the word brawl.
Diaz’s involvement in this ruckus has been debated endlessly but the fact of the matter remains that it’s something you’d never see George St-Pierre do.
Diaz’s street fighter image may help Strikeforce to market and promote his fights but from a public relations point of view, Diaz is a time bomb.
4) What does he bring?
Nick Diaz is an exciting fighter without doubt. His record might very well be good but the level of his competition of late has been somewhat mediocre.
He was unable to finish a natural lightweight in K.J. Noons and was tagged repeatedly both by an over-hyped Zaromskis and under-prepared Cyborg.
5) Who does he fight?
There is, at present, one fight that makes pay-per-view sense for Nick Diaz in the UFC and that’s with George St-Pierre. If we take that fight out of the equation for a second, who is left that the public would pay to watch Diaz fight?
If Jake Shields is able to beat George St-Pierre then Diaz has already stated that he wouldn’t fight his team mate, freezing him out of the title picture immediately.
