Fighter in Texas tries risky Capoeira kick
Doing Capoeira in MMA can be risky …

As the name implies, mixed martial arts draws from a wide of combat sports. There are rhythmic kicks from Muay Thai, flashing combinations from boxing, submissions out of nowhere from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. More obscure arts are seen at points, too, including Capoeira.
Capoeira is arguably the world’s most beautiful martial art. Developed in the 15th century by Angolan slaves in Brazil, Capoeira draws from dance, acrobatics, and music to the point that in 2014 it was granted a special protected status by UNESCO as an “intangible cultural heritage.”
But like many things, done right it is beautiful, done a little wrong, it is not a little beautiful. So doing Capoeira in MMA can be risky. At LFA 7 in Houston, Texas, on Friday, Clovis Hancock was brave enough to attempt it on Khazakstan’s Nikolay Veretennikov.

Adding injury to insult, Hancock later fell to a textbook left high kick.

Hancock falls to 2-2 while Veretennikov pushes his win streak to four.
