TMZ recently released brief security cam footage of former NHL star Dustin Penner tussling with a man in a BJJ gi, during what appeared to be a gym repo. The TMZ title was a little inflammatory – “NHL STAR DUSTIN PENNER ACCUSED OF ASSAULT IN GYM REPO.”

However, the article made clear that the police did not consider it an assault, but rather a civil case. Then in a detailed series of tweets, Penner took issue with TMZ’s characterization of the incident, and alleged that according to police, it was he who was assaulted, and that the video had been misleadingly edited.

Now, man in the blue gi, BJJ black belt, pro MMA fighter, and UGer Nick Moghaddam, offers a radically different perspective on the incident.
