Brazil’s athletic commission for mixed martial arts, the Comissão Atlética Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), had announced that all fighters at UFC Fight Night 62 in Rio de Janeiro passed PED tests. However, CABMMA has issued an amended statement, saying that lightweight Jorge Oliveira tested positive for stanozolol, and has been suspended for one year by the commission, retroactive to the event date of March 21st.

CABMMA issued a statement to MMAfighting, explaining that “a communication error was identified by the Executive Committee when issuing the drug test results” due to “a misinterpretation of the partial report sent by the UCLA Olympic Analytical Lab (WADA Accredited Lab), where tests were analyzed and results confirmed.”

“This last sample code and its result were sent a day a part from the initial report, which in this case, was the reason of not being mentioned in the Commission’s initial statement.”

In a novel and poignant excuse, Renovacao Fight Team head coach Marcio Cromado, said that Oliveira strenuously denies that he took PEDs, and said he does not have the financial means to afford them.

Oliveira lost to Christos Giagos on the prelim card by submission (RNC) at 3:12 of the first.
