Professional MMA fighter Aaron Rajman, 25, was killed in a West Boca, Florida shooting on July 3. Multiple men entered his home, argued with Rajman, fired at least one shot, and fled. The incident took place at approximately 10:24 p.m.
Now three Florida teens have been charged with first-degree murder in the home invasion slaying. Summer Church, 16, was denied bond as were alleged accomplices Roberto Ortiz and Jace Swinton, both 18. Church is in the 11th grade, and was arrested on the way to school.
Summer’s mother, Judi Church, 50, said her daughter and Rajman were acquainted since early in the year, after meeting at a convenience store. The mother says her daughter was forced at gunpoint to call Rajman to see if he was at home prior to the alleged attack, and was allowed to leave the killers’ vehicle before it arrived at the fighter’s residence.
“My daughter was held at gunpoint and forced to make a phone call to him,” said the mother to the Sun Sentinel. “The state attorney needed to arrest somebody, and they decided she was the criminal mastermind behind all this even though she told them everything she knows.”
“The detectives know she wasn’t in the car when it happened and they know she was forced to get in and make that phone call, yet they still came and arrested her for first-degree murder.”
“They made Summer get in the car, and they made her make that phone call. She’s not a bad kid. She’s trying to do good in school this year, and she wants to go to nursing school.”
Investigators report that Church was not at the scene, but suspect she masterminded the murder. The high school student is being tried as an adult.
This was no random act of violence, Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg. Mr. Rajman was targeted by these defendants, and we intend to seek justice for the victim and his family.
