Sports select for human beings of different sizes. Basketball players trend tall. Women’s MMA strawweights, not so much.
Shaquille O’Neal, for example, is a little over seven feet tall, and a little more than a little over 300 pounds. By contrast, Felice Herrig is 5′ 4″ and weighed in at 115.5 pounds. UFC weight divisions are 10-20 pounds apart because that split makes a difference. Shaq is 2.6 times the size of Herrig.
Shaq is also an ardent, long-time fan and student of mixed martial arts, and was Octagonside at UFC Fight Night 104 on Saturday when Herrig earned a unanimous decision over Alexa Grasso. Afterward, they took a pic together, and it is a startling example of how much human beings can differ in size.
