Bellator MMA recently announced that for only the second time in promotion history, they will be putting a show on pay per view. It will be held at Madison Square Garden and headlined by Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva. And now Joseph Staszewski for the NY Post reports that the event will co-headlined by Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Mitrione. The first Fedor vs. Mitrione fight was canceled when the American suffered a kidney stone attack.

I’m so excited to come back to the East Coast and compete again,” said Mitrione. “I spent two years with the New York Giants, all my family is out there and I’m ecstatic that they will get to be there and watch me punch the greatest heavyweight of all time in the face. Not to mention, it’s just the cherry on top that it’s at MSG, the mecca of combat sports.

Bellator has been awesome in supporting me throughout this whole ordeal with the kidney stones and knowing that I’m the sexiest opponent for Fedor. I’m glad we were able to keep this fight intact and putting it on this monstrous pay-per-view event.

Bellator 180 will be held on June 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The promotion is expected to bring out its brightest stars for the event.
