Fan invited by Holm to vault barricade, kick each other
Holly Holm: “I’m always going to involve the fans. If they’re going to come here just to watch us do an open workout, I want to be involved with them.”
UFC women’s bantamweight contender Holly Holm picked a fan out of the crowd at the UFC 193 open workout, and they kicked each other in the stomach a few times.
(At the UFC 184 open workouts), everybody was wondering what I was going to do because I was there before my coaches, and so they’re like, ‘What are you going to do for open workouts?’ recalled Holm to MMAjunkie. I’m like, it’s for them. It’s for me, too, because how do you not get that energy?
So I went in there and I was just shadowboxing and jumping rope, and there were a couple of fans that were really exciting. They’re calling out, ‘Throw a superman punch,’ or ‘throw an axe kick.’ So it was fun, because they got to tell me what to do, and I was like, this makes it more fun because I’m not by myself.
And thus it was that an Aussie woman named Kelly Ross joined the fun in Australia at the UFC 193 Open Media Workout.
