Brazilian authorities today released UFC middleweight Maiquel Faclao (26-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) after four days of detainment.

MMAjunkie.com today spoke with a representative from Falcao’s management team, who confirmed his client’s release.

Falcao had been detained in Pelotas, Brazil, in relation to a 2002 assault charge, though he was not placed in jail. The recent UFC signee today was issued an 18-month probation and will be allowed to travel freely from Brazil in order to fulfill his fighting assignments.

According to Falcao’s camp, the Brazilian originally was sentenced to a 24-month house arrest in 2002 after an incident at a night club in Brazil in which a woman was assaulted. Falcao, who at the time had not started his professional fighting career, was at the party but insists he was not involved in the assault. Nevertheless, Falcao was ordered to pay a fine and take part in community service.
