Today a report surfaced that Frankie Edgar will fight Urijah Faber in the UFC’s first trip to the Philippines. No official announcement has been made however.

Today a report surfaced that Frankie Edgar will fight Urijah Faber in the UFC’s first trip to the Philippines. No official announcement has been made however.

UFC Fight Night Manila on Fox Sports 1 will take place on May 16, 2015 at the MOA Arena as the promotion’s debut in the Philippines. As superfight is set as Urijah Faber will meet Frankie Edgar in the main event.

The match was confirmed by multiple sources close to the event. The official announcement is expected to be made shortly.

UFC number one ranked featherweight Edgar is the former three-time defending UFC Lightweight Champion who lost the belt and a subsequent challenge to Benson Henderson, then dropped to featherweight in an immediate title challenge to Jose Aldo. These fights and his recent string of three wins have racked him up an incredible 6 fight of the night accolades. His recent expected title shot rematch with Aldo was broken by the fan favorite Conor McGregor who earned the shot when he defeated Dennis Siver.

The UFC’s first visit to the Philippines on May 16 will have a main event fight fans have wanted to see for years, as former UFC world lightweight champion Frankie Edgar takes on former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber in a meeting of two lighter weight class pioneers.

The five-round featherweight main event will air live on FOX Sports 1 from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
