Post UFC on FOX 22 pre-fight media workout, Urijah Faber discussed why Saturday will be his final fight.
“I still have love for the sport,” said Faber. “It’s just – I don’t know how to describe it, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, I just feel like I compete well … I feel like Fedor looks. You know? That’s basically it.
“Not that I don’t enjoy the whole build up. And on top of that, it’s a tough road to be a professional fighter. I’ve been a combat athlete for 20 some odd years. And I have a lot of different interests as well.
“You’re forced to focus on that fight. This is my fourth fight this year. And so that’s two months at least where every single time I’m focused just on a fight. And I have other things I want to do.
“If I don’t say when, I’ll just continue to go and go and go. I know myself. I enjoy doing this. It’s easy for me. It’s great margins as a business man. There’s no better margins than the fight game.”
Urijah Faber fights Brad Pickett at UFC on Fox 22: VanZant vs. Waterson on December 17, 2016, at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. And then he is done fighting, but will continue to run Team Alpha Male, among his other business interests.
