Evans aims for Sept return, vs. Bader

Ariel Helwani reported that former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, 35, expects to be fully recovered by September, and wants to fight Ryan Bader.

UFC light heavyweight Ryan Bader has been remarkably vocal about wanting a fight with new division champion Daniel Cormier. However, UFC president Dana White said that Alexander Gustafsson is likely the next title contender.

On Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani reported that former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, 35, expects that by September he will be fully recovered from knee surgery and ready to fight. And that he thinks a fight with Bader will put him “back in the mix.”

Evans did not fight in all of 2014. Although on a two fight win streak, he has not fought since clobbering Chael Sonnen at UFC 167 on November 16, 2013. Bader is currently on a four-fight win streak, over Anthony Perosh, Rafael Cavalcante, OSP, and Phil Davis.

With a title shot off the cards, Bader vs. Evans in Sept seem like a natural.
