Former Shooto heavyweight champion Enson Inoue (11-8) will make his return to mixed martial arts at ASTRA on April 25th. This will mark the return of Inoue after over nearly a six year absence from the sport. Inoue, who turns 43 by fight night, will face Antz Nansen. New Zealand kickboxer Nansen (1-0) won his MMA debut against HIroshi Izumi last September at Sengoku 10.
Inoue last saw action at Super Brawl 35 when he lost to Tom Sauer by way of technical knock out in round one. The last career win for Inoue came at the hands of Japanese journeyman fighter Soichi Nishida by way of choke in the first round.
The career defining wins of the legend Enson Inoue began back in Shooto when he defeated Joe Estes for the Shooto heavyweight title. From there, he went on to defeat the legendary multiple time UFC champion Randy Couture at Vale Tudo Japan 1998. However, he then went 1-5 in the Pride Fighting Championships with losses to the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Heath Herring, Mark Kerr, and a burtal one-sided fight to Igor Vovchanchyn, that resulted in an extended hospital stay.
