With the Christmas season fast approaching and Thanksgiving on our doorstep it is only fitting we take this months featured gym to a place in the United States that some believe is the epicenter of Christmas. KANSAS CITY, MO. Some people would make the case that New York City sets the pace for the country in their holiday displays and attractions, but this city makes a strong case for its own brand of holiday cheer. One of its main attractions set to fetch thousands of visitors this month is Hallmark Cards Inc. in Crown Center. Hallmark has become synonymous with the holiday season and with Kansas City. With Americans buying an average 37 million Holiday cards each day between November 15th and December 25th about 1.5 billion of those come from Hallmark.
As the holidays approach, the flagship Hallmark store offers skating at an open-air ice rink. You can also see official White House Christmas cards sent by many American
presidents, including Eisenhower, Johnson, Carter, and Reagan, and winter scenes created by noted artists such as Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell. The mall is also unique because it only has two chain stores in its vast 55 acres of shops and displays. The remaining stores are mom and pop shops selling everything from handmade soaps, to pet toys. Now if this is not enough to get you to take the trek to Kansas City then maybe one of its premier MMA gyms named Glory MMA and fitness is.
We are proud to announce Glory MMA and Fitness as our featured gym of the month for November. The name alone which by definition stands for high renown or honor, gives truth to their main objective which is to provide an impact on people to bring out their true potential. Now some would believe that the owner and founder James Krause, who has competed at the highest level of MMA and has surrounded his gym with other UFC fighters such as Zac Cummings and Tim Elliot would believe that to be his highest achievements. After talking with James and his team, I realized instantly that their pride did not come from their own accomplishments, but from the actions of their students.
James and his team explained to us that unlike other MMA gyms, which typically have a solid adult base with a minimal kids program, their gym works daily to advance the MMA knowledge of Kansas City’s youth. One of the programs at the gym they explained to us was an after school program they developed for the underprivileged children of Kansas City. Along with this program the gym is host to numerous charity events and fundraisers to help offset the costs to the gym and make it affordable to kids that typically would be unable to train there.
Other programs that the gym offers are MMA, Muay Thai, BJJ, and Glory Fit which is a combination of self-defense, cardio kickboxing, and body weight exercises. Another feature that makes Glory unique is the fighter house they have. The fighter house is a home headed by his partner from Uruguay named Gaston Reyno. The house is designed to accommodate multiple students and trainers. James reported that as of now they have had people from as far away as Argentina. This is great for the gym and allows for James to bring fighters from around the world to come, live, and train at Glory.
Lucky to have recently been able to expand to a second school, Glory MMA in Kansas City is a 6000 square foot facility with a matted section for training and a workout area in case you had to miss the gym. According to James We have numerous coaches and staff ready to take your training and fitness to the next level, with over 40 class times available for you, your friends, and family to take advantage of.
