A few months ago we took to the UG to get the opinion of the masses regarding the age old question, what does it take to be a legit MMA gym? As some of you jokingly said stuff like an affiliate clothing brand or from forum user donkey guard our favorite Church basement, gym mats , punching bag, Instructor – preferably with 2-3 yrs YMCA karate training, High school wrestling bonus, Fitness equipment including a thigh buster and Ab master with a low grade imitation bow flex. After we weeded through the comedy factor we did get some honest and trustworthy opinions regarding what it takes to be successful in a sport that is growing leaps and bounds on a daily basis. Taking some of your opinions we found a gym that not only fit the UG forums goals for success but one that was able to do it on a daily basis. This month we are proud to announce Boston BJJ Nashua as our featured gym.

Boston BJJ is celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2015 and according to Boston BJJ Nashua owner John Fain this is just the beginning. With a floor space of 6000 square feet John takes pride that he has the ability to offer a wide range of classes for the novice student all the way to a professional BJJ practitioner or MMA fighter. John says that Boston BJJ Nashua offers classes in BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling and MMA. Having three training areas allows him to offer multiple classes at the same time. Earning his BJJ black belt under Roberto Maia who is a 5th Degree Black Belt in BJJ he felt great pride in changing his schools name recently to honor Maia who currently owns Boston BJJ.

Along with John his teaching staff consists of his first ever student Dennis Olsen who runs the MMA program and who is the head coach to his MMA team. As for his Boxing coach he has legendary boxing coach Muhammad Brooks in his corner.

One of the things John takes pride in is his commitment to Law Enforcement. John reported that he is dedicated to keeping officers safe and offers free workshops to local law enforcement officers to better their defensive tactics skills. Not only does he train Law Enforcement officers he works to perfect his skills by heading out to Virginia Beach a few times a year to train with other Defensive Tactics instructors across the county.

If you are ever in the Nashua area which was twice named “Best Place to Live in America” in annual surveys by Money magazine then make sure you swing into Boston BJJ. For more information make sure you go to their social media page listed below.
