In 2012 two of the founders of Twitter launched Medium.com. The site is testing the waters in MMA. USA Today Sports, FOX, Maxim writer Danny Acosta takes a look at at the #3 ranked featherweight Frankie Edgar who fights the #2 ranked Cub Swanson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 57 on Saturday.

The stakes are pretty simple for former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar when he takes on Cub Swanson Saturday night: Win and probably get another title shot, or lose and watch another man take what you think should be yours.

Both Edgar and Swanson have already lost to Aldo, and neither wants to drop to the back of the rematch line. That’s doubly important with the looming spector of Conor McGregor, who is 4–0 inside the Octagon and someone UFC is valuing very highly. The Irishman has been so loud since arriving in the UFC early last year that all conversations at 145-pounds, including the most important one — the title discussion — seemingly center around him.

After seven years in the company, Edgar insists it’d be awkwardly out of character if he started yapping. From his standpoint, McGregor can have the mic, for now.

Edgar notes that if he doesn’t win Saturday night, no one will talk about him anyway, so why focus on anything else?

While there’s also the small matter of revenge —It would be a shame not to get the title from [Aldo], be the person to take it from him, Edgar said — the former plumber knows he first needs to take care of business in Texas. It’s been more than six years since Edgar lost a non-title fight, and he doesn’t expect to start losing non-title tussles now. Not with Swanson potentially being the only thing between him and Aldo.

I want to go there and dominate, Edgar said about what could be a make-or-break fight for the 33-year-old. Not leave any questions when I walk out of the cage on who the winner was. I’m ready for what comes.
