Dos Anjos fought Pettis with torn MCL

At the post-fight press conference, Raphael Dos Anjos revealed that three weeks prior to his title fight UFC 185, he torn his MCL in training. While the UFC countdown team was taping he was injured training and apparently did not wrestle for the last three weeks of his camp.

Despite the injury, Dos Anjos dominated Anthony Pettis for all five rounds to capture the UFC lightweight title. 

Dos Anjos commented that he did not see a doctor for an MRI yet, but will see one when he returns home and was hopeful the injury would not require surgery.

White said it was ‘just his luck’ that his new champion is now injured.
