The main event of UFC on FOX 16 in Orlando, Florida features a lightweight title fight between champion Rafael Dos Anjos and top contender Donald Cerrone.
Cerrone bounced light on his feet to open, looking to stay at range and unleash his vaunted kickboxing skills. But it was dos Anjos who struck first, scoring first with a knee to the body and then with a vicious left kick that forced Cerrone to cover up. Dos Anjos immediately followed with a crisp three-punch combination and then a flurry of nearly 30 blows that threatened to end the fight.
Cerrone was able to work off the cage as he looked to recover, but when he hit the canvas after a failed takedown attempt, dos Anjos happily took the back and unleashed another dozen punches that forced referee Herb Dean to halt the fight at the 1:06 mark for the first round.
