Don’t ask Rory MacDonald if GSP would fight him for title

On Wednesday UFC president Dana White announced that Rory MacDonald would get a title shot at the winner of champion Johny Hendricks vs Robbie Lawler at UFC 181 on December 6. White has previously said that GSP will get a title shot if he decides to return. And GSP’s trainer says he believes the former welterweight champion will fight again.
When GSP was champion MacDonald was ever adamant that he would not fight his TriStar teammate. But what if the roles were reversed, and GSP was the challenger to champion MacDonald?
Ares doesn’t even like the question.
“It’s unnecessary,” said MacDonald to Marc Raimondi for FOX Sports. “We’ve answered it so many times and it’s not going to change.”
MacDonald said that although he has not spoken to the fighter about it, he does believe that GSP will return to the Octagon.
“I would assume so,” said MacDonald. “It doesn’t mean he has to fight for the championship. He would respect my position if I was holding the belt.”
