Bantamweight title holder Dominick Cruz suffered an injury to his left hand during training for his first title defense against Joseph Benavidez last August. He didn’t want to postpone the fight, so fight through the injury instead of having surgery right away.
Yesterday Cruz underwent surgery to repair the damage and will now be unable to participate in contact training for three months. Current estimates suggest he won’t be ready to make his UFC debut until the summer.
