John Dodson fought Eddie Wineland on the main card of UFC Fight Night 108 on Saturday night, winning via unanimous decision. Wineland was taller and larger and was coming off a two-fight win streak, both via punches. Dodson emerged without any visible marks on his face, after 15 minutes. Fight Metric calculated that Wineland landed just 15% of the 138 strikes he attempted. By contrast, Dodson landed 46% of 103.

For his efforts, Dodson was booed throughout the fight.

I wasn’t surprised,” said Dodson at the post-fight press conference, as transcribed by Tristen Critchfield for Sherdog. “Everyone hates intelligent fighting. They all want us to be barbaric and be chickens locked in a cage with razors on our feet attacking each other. They want primal strategy. They forget that this is a competitive sport and most people need to go ahead and be a little bit more sober instead of being inebriated when they want to make those comments.

Due to his ability to avoid punishment, Dodson will likely be able to fight again soon.

I want anybody that’s willing to say yes,” said Dodson. “Everyone in this division has been saying no…. like Assuncao, Aljamain Sterling, T.J. Dillashaw, Jimmie Rivera and everyone knows Bryan Caraway has said no to fighting me, like, 50 million times. The big names in this division are constantly ducking me because they don’t want to get hit by someone who is faster than them.
