Dillashaw vs. Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81 on 17 Jan. 2016 in Boston

UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw is fighting former champion Dominick Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81 on 17 Jan. 2016 in Boston, Mass. The announcement was made by UFC president Dana White on UFC Tonight.

The event will air on FOX Sports 1. It will be the first title defense on the channel. Title fights ordinarily take place on PPVs or on ‘big’ FOX. Having a fight this long awaited by the hardcore fanbase on free television is a sweet deal.

Dillashaw has won four straight, including two title defenses. Cruz never lost his title, but suffered a series of surgery-requiring knee injuries. His last fight was an eerily effortless beatdown of Takeya Mizugaki in September of 2014.

No other fights on the card have been announced to date.
