Following a triumphant win over Paulo Thiago at this past month’s UFC 121 event, Diego Sanchez (22-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) said he’d be fine competing in the lightweight or welterweight division.
Now, he’s leaning more toward 155 pounds, but the most important thing is getting a second crack at a UFC title – and any belt will do.
“I’d probably prefer 155 (pounds), but my one goal is to win the title, Sanchez told MMAjunkie.com
After a two-fight slide which saw him fall short to B.J. Penn at UFC 107 in a bid for the lightweight championship and lose a decision to welterweight prospect John Hathaway at UFC 114, the recent win re-established Sanchez as a threat in both divisions.
“I think it all just comes down to preparation and the decisions that you make and what you do in your training camp,” Sanchez said afterward. “My motto is, ‘Just earn it.’ Just earn the ‘W,’ and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to work and earn the ‘W.'”
