UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor only has a handful of major fights. The largest by far is a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather on August 26. Well down from there is a title defense vs. top contenders Khabib Nurmagomedov or Tony Ferguson. Or he could move up to welterweight and fight for the title or vs. returning welterweight G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre. But his biggest proven bout in MMA is a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.

When MayGregor was made official, Diaz responded first via Instagram.

“It’s gonna be a good fight for that #2 spot,” he wrote.

Heh 🙂

Then a TMZ stringer caught up with the 32-year-old Southpaw. Diaz was not notably talkative.

He predicted the fight would start with a punch, and mimed it.

Does McGregor stand a chance? “We’ll find out.”

If McGregor loses will he return to MMA? “I don’t know.”

If McGregor does return to the Octagon, will there be a trilogy fight? “We’ll see. I’ve got a lot of stuff going on.”

What round will MayGregor end? “That’s the fight for the #2 spot.”

Heh.
