DC: Werdum ‘should have kept his mouth shut’
Daniel Cormier: “Fabricio insulted his pride. And I bet it was tongue in cheek by Werdum, I bet it wasn’t meant that way, but you don’t say it to that guy.”

Interim UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum recently quipped that he felt more Mexican than Mexican-American UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, and an AKA teammate of Cain’s, thinks Werdum ‘should have kept his mouth shut.’
“The last guy who said things about Cain was Junior, he said he hits soft,” said Cormier said at Thursday’s UFC 188 media day as transcribed by Dave Doyle for MMAFighting.com. “And he got beat up twice. So I think Fabricio would have been better off keeping quiet.”
“I’ve known Fabricio, I’ve known him for years. When I see him I go over and shake his hand. I hadn’t seen that Embedded thing, and I didn’t know what was going on. So, I saw what happened with them and then after, I asked what happened. He explained to me, and I was like, ‘oh s—.”
“He should have just kept his mouth shut. I mean, he was going to lose anyway, but it would have been like Bigfoot, you take your whupping and you keep moving on.”
