Dana White: If Diaz is not 100% in, he should probably retire

Except for a controversial and handily avenged cuts stoppage loss to KJ Noons, Nick Diaz has not lost in almost six years, since he dropped three unanimous decisions in a row, to Diego Sanches, Joe Riggs, and Sean Sherk.

That amazing streak was broken last night when judges awarded Carlos Condit a close decision. Diaz responded by talking retirement.

“You guys pay me way too much, but I don’t think I’m going to get enough to keep going in this,” said Diaz. “He ran the whole time. He kicked me in the leg with little baby leg kicks the whole fight. That’s the way they understand hpw to win in here, so I don’t want to play this game no more.”

At the post fight press conference, UFC President “Let me tell you what, the kid’s made a lot of money. If he didn’t want to do it anymore, maybe he could retire. But why? He’s in his prime. Fight for a few more years, and he’ll have enough money to really do it and kick back the rest of his life.”

“Nick one hundred percent believes he won the fight. I think once he goes home, relaxes and calms down … Nick Diaz is a fighter, I don’t see Nick Diaz retiring. But, who knows? It’s one of those things, too, this isn’t one of those sports where you want to be half in and half out. ‘I don’t know what I wanna do’ — if that’s the way you feel, you probably should retire.”
