Despite having death wished upon him by a former adversary Marcus Davis earlier this week, Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy was in good health when Fighters Only caught up with him today. Davis had posted a Twitter message about Hardy saying he hopes he dies of AIDS but pulled it down after an outcry from some quarters.

Hardy had already seen it though, but was not in the least bit perturbed. Yeah I saw that. I laughed. I think he needs to chill out a bit.”

Even though Davis pulled the comment from his Twitter page, the fact he put it there suggests he has still not got over the ordeal Dan Hardy and his fans put him through prior to their UFC 99 clash. Among the jibes aimed at Davis – who takes fierce pride in his Irish heritage – were an observation that his website looks like an explosion in a St. Patrick’s Day gift shop and a number of photoshopped images showing Davis in compromising positions with other men. It seems Hardy is still very much getting at Davis.

I think more than anything it is Davis getting to Davis now, says Hardy after thinking for a moment. I think he needs to see it for what it was and just chill out a bit. It was all meant in good humour, I didn’t say anything malicious or do anything malicious. It was all funny stuff, like the photoshops and the plastic paddy thing.

It was just like a back and forward you’d get between mates in our gym any day of the week, he adds. Indeed, Hardy’s humour – much like Michael Bisping’s – is very British and perhaps does not translate very well when taken across the pond to the US.
