Former UFC contender Paul Daley earned his first victory outside of the UFC after picking up a decision victory against Jorge Masvidal.
Masvidal, who typically fights at lightweight, stepped up to take on a superior striker — but fought a good strategy to land numerous takedowns throughout the fight to frustrate Daley. This fight was extremely close, but Daley’s barrage in the closing minutes of the third round likely secured him the decision.
After the decision victory, Daley also had some choice words for U.S. fans in attendance that booed his victory announcement.
This is my first fight back in America. You can tell all the fans love me with all the booing. There’s a difference between me and them, I’m getting paid a helluva lot more than them. Your tickets pay my wages.
