Invicta feathweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino appeared recently on Inside MMA and discussed her drop towards UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Cyborg is currently training for a catchweight fight at 140. If that is successful, she will next try to make weight for a fight at 135. If that works, she is expected to land a UFC title shot.

Cyborg successfully fought at 140 pounds in her USA debut vs. Shayna Baszler at EliteXC: Unfinished Business in 2008. She said she used to walk around at 177, but now is at 165, and conceded that she is not as strong as she was.

“I want to make 140, make healthy and make good fight for all my fans watching,” said Cyborg, as transcribed by Adrian MacNair for MMAMania. “And, of course, everybody want to watch me and Ronda Rousey. [That] don’t change, you know? My next fight, I fight again and after this fight probably people will ask again. And when Ronda Rousey fight Holly Holm people ask for this fight again. [But] next step make 140 next fight.”

“People think when you go inside Octagon, you’re a fighter, you’re mean person. You know I don’t have anything personal with nobody. I just go inside the Octagon to fight and you have to be together because in women’s MMA you have to be together to grow [the sport] and show respect to each other.”
