Ronda Rousey had the UFC women’s bantamweight division created for her and went on to become the most famous fighter in league history. Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino had the women’s featherweight division created for her, but needed time to recover from a brutal weight cut, and then an MD prescribed drug to restore her normal body function flagged an anti-doping test.

The UFC decided to go forward with the division without Justino, and bantamweights Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie fought, with the latter winning a controversial decision. GDR said post fight she needed hand surgery, but then echoed Holm’s call for a rematch. Cyborg, who watched the fight from cageside, is not impressed.

“Sounds funny because they know, they know, before they go inside the cage, ‘if you win this fight, you’re gonna fight Cyborg,’ said Cyborg during a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, as transcribed byGuilherme Cruz for MMA Fighting.

“I [was] supposed to fight there, I cannot fight, they make this fight happen, and the winner will be my next opponent. It sounds funny to say ‘Oh, fight Cyborg now, I’m injured, I need surgery,’ and after you want rematch with Holly Holm.

“I really felt happy they are having my division. I know the division is gonna keep there. It doesn’t matter if I’m gonna fight now or later. And it will be my time. Everybody knows who’s the champion at 145. Almost 10 years world champ, and I keep training like contender No. 1.”

In positive news for Justino, UFC president Dana White says things are looking good for her retroactive application of a Therapeutic Use Exemption.
