Mirko “Cro Cop Filipovic has dropped long-time boxing trainer Marjan Zizanovic and is said to have “drastically” changed the way he’ll approach his next fight. The news comes courtesy of Croatian website Index.hr.
Now proclaimed physically healthy for the first time in years, the Croatian looks to mix things up in his training preparations in hopes of rejuvenating his once dominant career.
To this end, Filipovic has brought on legendary muay thai practitioner Ivan Hippolyte to help him fine tune his striking. He also plans to travel to the Netherlands to train consistently with high level sparring partners and has dismissed long-time sparring partner and close friend Igor Pokrajac who recently dropped a decision to Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 103.
Filipovic will look to taste the fruit of his labor at UFC 110 on Feb. 21 against fellow striker Ben Rothwell who is also coming off of a loss.
