Earlier this week, it was reported and later confirmed that Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko would be return to mixed martial arts. For years the big fight everyone wanted to see was Randy Couture vs. Emelianenko, but when recently asked by Sports Illustrated if he would also come out of retirement to finally Fedor, Couture was unsure:

Maggie Gray: Fedor Emelianenko just said that he wants to come out of retirement, Randy would you come out of retirement to fight Fedor?

Randy Couture: Well obviously it’s a fight that in it’s heyday would have been an amazing fight and a cross over fight for that time. Whether or not I’d be willing to step out there now at fifty-two years old and come back out of retirement, after four years of working on all the other stuff in my life, I don’t know. That would be something I’d really have to think hard about.

Maggie Gray: But you are not closing the door to this opportunity, potentially?

Randy Couture: Can you ever say no? Can you ever say it’s absolutely not, I don’t think there is anything that’s absolute in the world.
