“I’m aware of the boxing clinch and boxers’ ability to create openings to land good punches in that in-fighting,” Couture said. “I think it’s completely different with wrestling. The kind of clinch that wrestlers bring is a lot different. I’ve been in there with a lot of good strikers, and the clinch always seems to frustrate them. It’s a lot different clinch than a boxing clinch. It doesn’t mean I don’t have to be attentive there. But I still feel like it’s an area where I’m going to be strong.”

The boxers message hasn’t changed throughout the hype for his bout with grizzled mixed martial artist Randy Couture: He’s very confident, perhaps moreso after greeting Couture at Wednesday’s press conference.

“If you were up close and personal, you saw the fear in his eyes,” Toney said. “He ain’t never seen nobody like me in his life.”
