Is (MMA) a part of the Olympics? I think that should be, Costner recently said. I’ve just watched it the last 15 years. I think it’s one of the greatest sports out there – the drama that exists and the way they’ve controlled their sport.
That may be a long shot. But the crossover from the Olympics to MMA definitely is there. It was on display this past Saturday in the UFC 197 co-main event when gold medal-winning wrestler Henry Cejudo tried to take the flyweight title from Demetrious Johnson.
The other thing Costner seems to love about MMA is that there’s no season to worry about. With his love of baseball, he admits he tends to wait till it really matters until he tunes in these days.
