Daniel Cormier definitely came to fight at UFC 182, giving Jon Jones a solid test in the championship bout. Ultimately Jones persevered, winning four of the five rounds on all three judges score cards and retained his title. In pre-fight interviews, Cormier had said he thought this was his last chance at the UFC title, but after the fight expressed that he believed the loss wouldn’t ruin him, holding back tears as he spoke:

This is not going to ruin me, an emotional Cormier said after the fight. One way or the other, I’m going to stand across the cage from that man again. And I believe, just as I did tonight, I’ll take the fight to him again, I guess.

Jones, meanwhile, was less than sympathetic, but he said the reason is obvious.

I know if he would have won, he would have been up here, talking all types of trash, he said. So I don’t feel sorry for him. This is combat.
