Combate Americas‘ Copa Combate weigh-ins took place place at the Grand Oasis Hotel main lobby area in Cancun, Mexico on Friday, November 10 at Noon ET.
It was like nothing in mixed martial arts history.
There were fighters and officials, which included the members of the state commission and a sanctioning body, UFC co-founder and Combate Americas founder Campbell McLaren, and Alberto Del Rio. There was Gil Melendez and Miesha Tate and a pregnant Julianna Pena. There were three women dressed from head to toe in purple, including the entire face and head, who shook hands with every fighter weighing in. There were two women in death masks. And there was a nice guy on stilts. Also La Jaula girls. Multiple DJs.
It was the next level.

This is fighting; not everyone made weight.
Andres Ayala from Bogota, Colombia, wasn’t able to make weight, so Colombian sensation Alejandro ‘Pitbull’ Abomohor will now square off with Marc ‘Lufo’ Gomez of Barcelona, Spain. Further, Ricky ‘El Gallero’ Palacios wasn’t able to make weight; he will be replaced by Levy ‘El Negro’ Marroquin vs. Carlos ‘Lobo’ Rivera.
