Congratulations Cris Cyborg on becoming a US citizen today

Invicta FC featherweight champion and UFC fighter Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino become a U.S. citizen today. She took the oath of citizenship along with 2,300 citizenship applicants, during a naturalization ceremony in Los Angeles, California.

She also added ‘Cyborg’ as a middle name on her naturalization papers, making that official too.

“The first time I went to America, I had the opportunity to fight here and people really appreciate my work and appreciate my sport,” she said. “It’s an opportunity for me give back for the American community what they give to me. I can vote, you know? I can participate more. It is making me appreciate everything they have to me.”

Cyborg, 31, came to the USA in 2008 on a visa for athletes, and then applied for a green card. In December of 2015 she applied to become a U.S. citizen. And today it became official!
