Carlos Condit has been out of the Octagon since his January spilt decision loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 195. After the fight, Condit spoke about possible retirement, but was non-commital either way at the time.

It looks like Condit decided his career was not over and today it was announced he would return this August at UFC 202 against Demian Maia.

The lineup for UFC 202 later this summer continues to build with another high-profile welterweight fight.

Former interim champion Carlos Condit (30-9 MMA, 7-5 UFC) will return after a title loss to face Demian Maia (23-6 MMA, 17-6 UFC) in a 170-pound fight at UFC 202. Promotion officials announced the new booking today.

Featuring a headlining rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor at welterweight, UFC 202 takes place Aug. 20 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card will air on pay-per-view following prelims expected for FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Maia is currently riding a five win streak and was in discussion for the next welterweight title but will instead fight Condit. Maia would likely be a lock for a title fight with a win over the last title challenger and Condit could put himself right back into the title picture with a win over the surging Maia.
