Condit: I want a legendary fight
Carlos Condit: “We both go for broke, look to finish competitors. That’s going to make for a fight that I’m hoping is legendary. That’s the kind of fight I want to be in.”

Carlos Condit has never had a boring fight. Robbie Lawler has never had a boring fight. They are two of the divisions most talented strikers and most ferocious fighters and Condit is hoping their fight at UFC 195 is ‘legendary’:
I guess (the legacy I’d like to leave is) that I’m a true martial artist in a lot of different senses, Condit said. Not only in my performances, but in how I carry myself and how I treat other people. And when I step in the octagon, I leave it all in there. … I come to fight. I leave every ounce of what I had in the there.
That mindset, and a history of fan-friendly slugfests, is why the UFC booked the Lawler fight despite Condit sitting at No. 4 in the UFC welterweight rankings. No. 3 Johny Hendricks, who beat Condit and is 1-1 vs. Lawler, voiced his displeasure with the matchup.
Condit doesn’t really care.
The fight that fans want to see is me and Robbie, Condit said.
Of Lawler’s 26 wins, 20 were by knockout and one was by submission for an 81 percent finishing rate. Of Condit’s 30 wins, he’s finished his opponent 28 times (15 knockouts, 13 submissions) for a 93 percent finishing rate.
Robbie and I are both strikers, Condit said. We both go for broke, look to finish competitors. That’s going to make for a fight that I’m hoping is legendary. That’s the kind of fight I want to be in. I want to be in fights that people will remember for the rest of their lives.
