Condit contemplating retirement
Carlos Condit: “I was all in. If I got that strap, I was gonna keep fighting. If I didn’t, like I didn’t… I will have to see if I can continue to do this.”
Carlos Condit lost a split decision against Robbie Lawler in the UFC 195 main event Saturday night. It may have been his last fight.
“I did (think I won the fight), it was close though,” said Condit at the post-fight press conference, as transcribed by Anton Tabuena for BE. “It didn’t go my way tonight, but I fought my ass off. I’m disappointed, but I’m proud of my performance.”
“Win or lose, I’m out here living my dream. I get to fight for a living, and compete against the top guys in the world. I dig what I do, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose unfortunately. Tonight wasn’t my night.”
And it may be his last night.
“It’s not really an emotional thing,” said Condit of retiring “I’m not dejected. I have to evaluate, but yeah, there’s a possibility that might be my last one.”
“I’ve been at this for a long time. Over 40 professional MMA and Kickboxing fights. I don’t know. I came up short tonight. Tonight was kind of like a do-or-die moment for my career. I was all in. If I got that strap, I was gonna keep fighting. If I didn’t, like I didn’t… I will have to see if I can continue to do this.”
Although just 31, Condit has 13 long, hard years in the fight game as a professional. Lawler, 33, has nearly 15 years in, but he’s Robbie Lawler.
